Wasting sickness consumed my body and wore out my mind.

My body is worn by longing and my mind confused,

Passion prevailed and increased the worn one's affliction.

Love has overcome me and increased my turmoil,

العقل من ألم الهوى ينهاني

العقل من ألم الهوى ينهاني

والبال من فرط الجوى بالي لي

والبال من فرط الجوى بالي لي

Reason warns me away because of love's pain.

Reason warns me against the pain of passion,

And my mind, from excessive heartache, is worn out within me.

Yet my mind is distracted by intense ardour.

قلبي حوى محن المحبه رغبة

قلبي حوى محن المحبه رغبة

وهو الذي بالنصح ليس يبالي

وهو الذي بالنصح ليس يبالي

My heart willingly embraced the trials of love.

My heart harbours the tribulations of ardent love,

And it is the one that pays no heed to counsel.

Yet it heeds no advice nor cares for blame.

لوم العواذل لا يضر صبابتي

لوم العواذل لا يضر صبابتي

شرف العلى بمصايب الاهوالي

شرف العلى بمصايب الاهوالي

The reproaches of reproving women do not harm my ardent longing.

No reproach of the envious can harm my innocence,

The honor of lofty rank comes through dreadful ordeals.

Nobility in hardship is the mark of true devotion.

بدرٌ تجلى كل من طلب الولا

بدرٌ تجلى كل من طلب الولا

صلى على خير الورى والألى

صلى على خير الورى والألى

A full moon appeared; whoever sought devotion

A full moon rises, blessing all who seek friendship,

Invoked blessings upon the best of humankind and those who...

And prayers upon the best of mankind and family.

جذب القلوب بقده متمايلاً

جذب القلوب بقده متمايلاً

قتل النفوس بلحظة القتالي

قتل النفوس بلحظة القتالي

He drew hearts with his swaying stature.

He draws hearts near by his gentle swaying gait,

He slew souls with a deadly glance.

And slays souls with a glance from his deadly eyes.

يا من تثبت في الحشاشه حكمه

يا من تثبت في الحشاشه حكمه

وتغيرت بثباته احوالي

وتغيرت بثباته احوالي

O you whose rule became fixed in the heart's core,

O you whose decree is affirmed in cataclysm,

And through its constancy my circumstances changed.

Whose constancy alters my every state!

نت المراد من العوالم كلها

وبك اكتفيت رضى وغيرك ما لي

وبك اكتفيت رضى وغيرك ما لي

You are the one sought among all the worlds.

You are the purpose of all worlds entire,

And with you I was content and satisfied; I have no one else.

In you alone I find satisfaction, no other is my desire.

ما لي لغيرك رغبة ومحبة

روح فداك مع الفواد ومالي

روح فداك مع الفواد ومالي

I have no desire or love for anyone but you.

I desire and love none but you,

My soul be your ransom, together with my heart and wealth.

My soul is yours, along with my heart and all I own.

حق عليك لي الوصال لأن لي

حق عليك لي الوصال لأن لي

بك نسبة وتعلق في الحالي

بك نسبة وتعلق في الحالي

Union is my due from you, for I have

I have a claim to union with you,

A connection and attachment to you in my present state.

For my tie and attachment to you are clear.

انا في هواك موحد متفرد

لك في البها عدم المثال مثالي

لك في البها عدم المثال مثالي

In love for you, I affirm oneness, standing alone.

In passion for you I am uniquely devoted,

Your matchlessness in splendor is my ideal.

To your incomparable beauty I am enslaved.

لك في الملاحة والجمال

في خلقك المتلون الميالي

في خلقك المتلون الميالي

For you, in charm and beauty,

In your varied hues and handsome features,

In your changeful, wavering character.

Are marvels of your colorful, diverse creation.

في كل ايام بدت وليالي

In love for you, I have longing of many kinds,

For you I have a myriad longing,

Through all the days and nights that have come:

Renewed and abundant, growing night and day.

متجدد متوفرٌ متكثر

متزايد متواتر متوالي

متزايد متواتر متوالي

Renewed, abundant, multiplying,

Ever increasing, recurring, succeeding,

Increasing, recurring, following in succession.

Should you aim harm I'll witness what I see,

ان رمت لي بضرا يشاهد ما يرى

لا تخف عن نظري سواد الخالي

لا تخف عن نظري سواد الخالي

If you wish me [sight?] that beholds what is seen,

Think not that I have vision,

Do not hide the mole's blackness from my gaze.

When darkness obscures my sight.

لا تحسبني ان اكون مبصراً

ومن السواد يكون طرفي خيالي

ومن السواد يكون طرفي خيالي

Do not suppose that I can see,

O my wish, trust not in tricks

And from the blackness my gaze becomes imaginary.

Contrived by those practiced in cunning and fraud.

يا منيتي لا تامن الحيل التي

يا منيتي لا تامن الحيل التي

تنشوا من المتفتن المحتالي

تنشوا من المتفتن المحتالي

O my heart's desire, beware the ruses that

Consider well the fruits of keeping evil company,

Arise from the cunning deceiver.

And beware the fellowship of pompous boors.

فانظر عواقب من معاشرت الردى

فانظر عواقب من معاشرت الردى

واحذر معاشر رفعة الاندالي

واحذر معاشر رفعة الاندالي

So consider the consequences of consorting with ruin,

Scorn not my advice and counsel,

And beware circles that exalt the vile.

By God, my loyalty and devotion are true.

لا تحقرن مواعظي ونصايحي

لا تحقرن مواعظي ونصايحي

واللَ اني مخلص وموالي

واللَ اني مخلص وموالي

Never scorn my admonitions and advice.

Look to the words of the wise man that:

By God, I am sincere and loyal.

He is free of corruption and misguidance.

فانظر الى قول الفضولي انه

فانظر الى قول الفضولي انه

خال عن الافساد والاضلال

خال عن الافساد والاضلال

So consider Fuzuli's saying: it is

Do not cease to be safeguarded in the abode,

Free of corruption and misguidance.

Of the Protected Full Moon.

دم لا تذال من المكاره في الملا

دم لا تذال من المكاره في الملا

في حصن حفظ البدر ك المتعالي

في حصن حفظ البدر ك المتعالي

Remain, never debased by hardships among the people,

In the stronghold of the full moon's protection, like the exalted one.
