Upon the ocean-like scholar, companion of perfection,

And possessor of lofty, noble virtues,

    A greeting wafting every fragrance,

Refreshing the spirit of the hillocks and hills.

    A greeting spreading every fragrance,

    Perfuming their days and nights.

It calls aloud in your assembly,

Greeting your countenance again and again.

So in Sabya it yearns to meet you,

And crosses Jazan as the swift ones cross.

It nests in the nests of noble deeds,

And roams while dwelling beyond the camps.

And conveys the pledges of love's captive,

Companion to the sleeplessness of long nights,

To one departed, withholding a meeting,

To one gone to Tihamah, engrossed in delay.
