ذَخِيرَةُthe treasury أَخْبارِchronicles الجَزِيرَةal-Jazira (the island) قَدْalready غَدَتْhas become
لَدَيَّin my possession وَهَلْand is there مِثْلُthe like of الذَّخِيرَةِthe treasury مِنْany ذُخْرِtreasure
The treasury of al-Jazira’s chronicles has now come
The store of news about the peninsula has now
into my possession—and is there any treasure like this treasury?
Become abundant for me, and is there any store like it for hoarding?
فَقُلْso say لابْنِto the son of يَحْيَىYahya قَدْindeed دَلَلْتَyou have pointed عَلَىto الّتيthe one who
هِيَshe is الشَّهْوَةُthe desire الشَّهْواءُardent للذّهْنِfor the mind والفِكْرِand thought
So tell Ibn Yahya: you have pointed to the one
So say to the son of Yahya, you have pointed out her
who is the ardent desire of mind and thought.
Who is the passionate desire, the passionate for the mind and thought.
وقُلْand say للّذِيto whoever يَهْوَىlongs for لِقاهَاmeeting her تَصَبُّراًbe patient
وياand oh رُبّماperhaps يسْتَوْجَبُis earned الوَصْلُunion بالصّبْرِthrough patience
And tell whoever longs to meet her: be patient!
And say to him who ardently desires to meet her, have patience,
And oh, union may well be earned through patience.
And perhaps union will be deserved through patience.
