فَذَهَبْتُ والأَحْشاءُ مِنْ وَجْدٍ بها

فَذَهَبْتُ والأَحْشاءُ مِنْ وَجْدٍ بها

لِزَفيرِها وشَهِيقِها إحْراقُ

لِزَفيرِها وشَهِيقِها إحْراقُ

So I departed; from the longing within my breast,

I left, my heart aflame with longing for her

its sighs and gasps were aflame.

Burnt by her sighs and moans of sorrow

وَظَللْتُ من نارِ الْجَوانِحِ والْبُكا

وَظَللْتُ من نارِ الْجَوانِحِ والْبُكا

يَنْتابُني الإحْراقُ والإغْراقُ

يَنْتابُني الإحْراقُ والإغْراقُ

And I remained, with fire beneath my ribs and weeping,

I'm scorched by the fires in my soul, drowning

beset by burning and drowning.

In this agony and torment, forlorn

يا مَنْ قَضَى بِفِراقِنا أرْجكَ أَنْ

يا مَنْ قَضَى بِفِراقِنا أرْجكَ أَنْ

يَأَتِي لَنا بَعْدَ الْفِراقِ وِفاقُ

يَأَتِي لَنا بَعْدَ الْفِراقِ وِفاقُ

O you who decreed our parting, I beseech you that

O He who decreed our parting, have mercy

reconciliation may come to us after separation,

And bring us together again, make peace

فَنَبِيتَ مِنْ فَرَحِ اللّقا في غِبْطَةٍ

فَنَبِيتَ مِنْ فَرَحِ اللّقا في غِبْطَةٍ

وَيَجِفَّ فَيْضُ مدامِعِي الْمِهْراقُ

وَيَجِفَّ فَيْضُ مدامِعِي الْمِهْراقُ

so we may spend the night in bliss at the joy of reunion,

That we may revel in the joy of reunion

and the outpoured flood of my tears may dry up.

And dry are my ever-flowing tears of grief
