أَلاَ بَلِّغَا عَنِّي الحُسَيْنَ بأَنَّني

أَلاَ بَلِّغَا عَنِّي الحُسَيْنَ بأَنَّني

لِرُؤْيَتِهِ صادٍ مَشُوقٌ مُتَيَّمُ

لِرُؤْيَتِهِ صادٍ مَشُوقٌ مُتَيَّمُ

O you two, tell al-Husayn on my behalf that I

Tell Hussein I long to see his face

am thirsty to see him, yearning and enslaved by love.

My heart yearns for his grace

لَعَلَّ إلَهَ الخَلْقِ يَجْمَعُ بَيْننا

لَعَلَّ إلَهَ الخَلْقِ يَجْمَعُ بَيْننا

عَلَى ما نَشا فِيمَا يَشَا فَهو أَكْرَمُ

عَلَى ما نَشا فِيمَا يَشَا فَهو أَكْرَمُ

Perhaps the God of creation will bring us together

May God unite us one day

as we wish, in what He wills—for He is most generous.

In His perfect time and way
