يا رَبِّ لا تَقْبِضَني قَبْلَ ما

يا رَبِّ لا تَقْبِضَني قَبْلَ ما

أَنَالُ ما أَرْجُو مِنَ السَّبْقِ

أَنَالُ ما أَرْجُو مِنَ السَّبْقِ

O my Lord, do not take my soul before

O Lord, take me not away before

I attain the precedence I hope for:

I attain what I hope for of precedence -

إِمّا تُقىً يُلْحِقني بالأُولَى

إِمّا تُقىً يُلْحِقني بالأُولَى

قَدْ أَحْرَزُوا السَّبْقَ مِنَ الْخَلْقِ

قَدْ أَحْرَزُوا السَّبْقَ مِنَ الْخَلْقِ

either piety that joins me to those who

Either piety that joins me to the foremost

have already won precedence among humankind,

Who have already obtained precedence among mankind,

أو قُدْرَة يُمْكِنُني عِنْدَها

أو قُدْرَة يُمْكِنُني عِنْدَها

أنْ أَحْمِلَ الْخَلْقَ على الْحَقِّ

أنْ أَحْمِلَ الْخَلْقَ على الْحَقِّ

or power through which I can

Or power that enables me

compel humankind to follow the truth.

To guide mankind toward the truth.
