My soul longs for union to endure
My soul yearns for our bond to endure
between me and the peerless one, perfection’s companion.
Between me and the epitome of perfection

But the days bring what
But time brings what
one who longs to meet cannot imagine.
Is not wished by the one who fantasizes about meeting

تَمْنَعُ أَنْ تَخْلُو عَن الاتّصالْ
They prevent our coming together—oh, if only they
If only the pleasures of company would
would prevent the absence of connection.
Prevent it from becoming devoid of connection

The heaviest thing that has reached my ears in
The hardest thing I've heard
logic is what is called “separation.”
In speech is what was told: "farewell"

Love has affirmed the propositions of passion;
Love has necessitated the judgments of passion
so I will never accept negation under any circumstances.
So I can never be pleased with its denial

لا يُنْتِجُ الْمَطْلوبَ وَهْوَ الْوِصالْ
The syllogistic form has come together—why, then,
The form has become accustomed, so why
does it not yield the desired result, which is union?
Does it not produce the desired, which is the connection
