لا دَرَّ دَرُّكَ ماذا في اغْتِرابِكَ مِنْ

نَفْعٍ يَعُودُ على الدُّنْيا أو الدِّينِ

نَفْعٍ يَعُودُ على الدُّنْيا أو الدِّينِ

May no good come of you! In your life abroad, what

No benefit accrues from your estrangement

benefit accrues to this world or to religion?

To world or faith, yet you persist in wrong.

مَاذَا دَعاكَ لِضُرٍّ بالقَرابَةِ وال

مَاذَا دَعاكَ لِضُرٍّ بالقَرابَةِ وال

أَصْحابِ بَعْدَ الرَّعايا والْمَساكِينِ

أَصْحابِ بَعْدَ الرَّعايا والْمَساكِينِ

What drove you to harm your kin and

What led you to abuse kinship’s claim

companions, after the subjects and the poor?

And spurn both comrades and the destitute?
