May I lose my good sense if I fail to slake a thirst
For gore, with first and second draughts.
لاnot عِشْتُmay I live إنif عِشْتُI live ضَرَّاعاgroveling ومُمْتَهَناًand debased

May I not live if I live groveling and debased,
And may I never recover from stumbling as a weakling stumbles.

For life never grows white in any age,
Except when the valiant hero’s deed turns red.
