وافَتْ إلَيَّ مِنَ الْمَقامِ الأَشْرَفِ

وافَتْ إلَيَّ مِنَ الْمَقامِ الأَشْرَفِ

كالبَدْرِ في أَوْجْ الْكَمالِ الْمُنْصفِ

كالبَدْرِ في أَوْجْ الْكَمالِ الْمُنْصفِ

It came to me from the noblest station,

She came to me from the most noble abode

like the full moon at the zenith of fair perfection.

Like the full moon at its peak of perfection

للهِ دَرُّ عَوارِفٍ ومَعارِفٍ

للهِ دَرُّ عَوارِفٍ ومَعارِفٍ

وَمَناقِبٍ ثَبَتَتْ بِغَيْرِ تَكَلُّفِ

وَمَناقِبٍ ثَبَتَتْ بِغَيْرِ تَكَلُّفِ

How admirable the acts of kindness and the learning,

Praise be to God for her virtues and knowledge

and virtues established without affectation!

And merits established without affectation

يا ناصِحَ الْقُرْباءِ والْبُعَداءِ ما

يا ناصِحَ الْقُرْباءِ والْبُعَداءِ ما

شَابَ النَّصِيحَةَ منْهُ شَوْبُ تَعَجْرُفِ

شَابَ النَّصِيحَةَ منْهُ شَوْبُ تَعَجْرُفِ

O counselor of those near and far, no

O sincere advisor of kin and stranger alike

taint of arrogance has sullied his counsel.

Your advice remains untainted by arrogance

يا طَاهِرَ النَّفَثاتِ بَلْ يا طَاهِرَ الثَّفِ

يا طَاهِرَ النَّفَثاتِ بَلْ يا طَاهِرَ الثَّفِ

نَاتِ أَنْتَ بِلا مِرَا الْخِلُّ الْوَفِي

نَاتِ أَنْتَ بِلا مِرَا الْخِلُّ الْوَفِي

O you whose breathings are pure—nay, O you whose callus-

O you of pure utterances, rather of pure essence

es are pure—you are, beyond dispute, the faithful friend.

You are the loyal friend without equal

تَسْعَى إلى الْمَعْروفِ في سِرٍّ وَفي

تَسْعَى إلى الْمَعْروفِ في سِرٍّ وَفي

جَهْرٍ وعنْدَ تَنَكُّر وتَعَرُّفِ

جَهْرٍ وعنْدَ تَنَكُّر وتَعَرُّفِ

You strive for goodness in secret and in

You strive for good in secret and openly

public, amid estrangement and familiarity.

When unrecognised and when known

وتَصُونُ في كُلِّ المجَامِعِ عِرْضَ مَنْ

وتَصُونُ في كُلِّ المجَامِعِ عِرْضَ مَنْ

نَهَشَتْهُ أَقْوالُ الْعَدُوّ المسْرِفِ

نَهَشَتْهُ أَقْوالُ الْعَدُوّ المسْرِفِ

And in every gathering you protect the honor of one

And you safeguard the honor of those

whom the words of the unrestrained enemy have savaged.

Whose repute the excessive slanderer tore

وَتَقُومُ في حَقِّ الإلَهِ وَلا تَرَى

وَتَقُومُ في حَقِّ الإلَهِ وَلا تَرَى

في الْحَقِّ إدْهاناً لِفَرْطِ تَعَسُّفِ

في الْحَقِّ إدْهاناً لِفَرْطِ تَعَسُّفِ

And you uphold what is due to God, and do not countenance

And you stand for the right of God, not seeing

compromise in the truth on account of extreme oppression.

In truth a means for excessive force

لَوْ رُمْتَ في كَرَمِ الطّباعِ شَهادَةً

لَوْ رُمْتَ في كَرَمِ الطّباعِ شَهادَةً

شَهِدَ الْوَرَى طُرّاً بِغَيْرِ تَوَقُّفِ

شَهِدَ الْوَرَى طُرّاً بِغَيْرِ تَوَقُّفِ

If you sought testimony to the nobility of your nature,

If you were to speak of your noble nature

all humankind would testify without hesitation.

Witnesses would testify without hesitation

يا رَبِّ زِدْهُ فَضائِلاً وفَواضِلاً

يا رَبِّ زِدْهُ فَضائِلاً وفَواضِلاً

فَهُوَ الذي بِعِبادِكَ الْبَرُّ الْحَفي

فَهُوَ الذي بِعِبادِكَ الْبَرُّ الْحَفي

O my Lord, increase him in virtues and bounties,

My Lord, increase his virtues and merits

for he is the one who is benevolent and caring toward Your servants.

For he is the righteous among Your servants

يا شَيْخَ آلِ مُحَمّدٍ إنّي أَرَى

يا شَيْخَ آلِ مُحَمّدٍ إنّي أَرَى

مِنْكَ الدُّعَا ذُخْراً لِيَوْمِ الموقِفِ

مِنْكَ الدُّعَا ذُخْراً لِيَوْمِ الموقِفِ

O shaykh of Muhammad's family, I regard

O Sheikh of Muhammad’s family, I see

your supplication as a treasure for the Day of Standing.

In you a treasure for the Day of Reckoning

فَدُعاءُ آلِ مُحَمدٍ لِمُحَمدٍ

فَدُعاءُ آلِ مُحَمدٍ لِمُحَمدٍ

لا شَكَّ عِنْدِي إنَّهُ اللّطْفُ الْخَفِي

لا شَكَّ عِنْدِي إنَّهُ اللّطْفُ الْخَفِي

For the supplication of Muhammad's family for Muhammad—

So the prayer of Muhammad’s family for Muhammad

I have no doubt—is hidden grace.

I have no doubt, is a hidden grace.
