I shut my ear to the call of youthful dalliance.
I have closed my ears to the caller of calamities,
And I profess a desire for the generosity of Najd,
وأُبْدِيand I express رَغْبَةًa desire لِنُجُودِfor the highlands of نَجْدٍNajd

And I express a desire for the highlands of Najd,
And a longing to breathe in its scent,
And a yearning to breathe in a breeze from it.
And nothing but precious stones has rested my heart,
وماand not بِسِوَىin any place other than العَقيقِِal-ʿAqīq أَقامَsettled قَلْبِيmy heart

My heart has settled nowhere but al-ʿAqīq,
And it has become ravaged among its people.
And now lies prostrate among its people.
