أَجزْتُكَ أَيُّها الْمَوْلى بِما فِي

أَجزْتُكَ أَيُّها الْمَوْلى بِما فِي

رِواياتِي مِنَ الْكُتُبِ الصّحاحِ

رِواياتِي مِنَ الْكُتُبِ الصّحاحِ

I authorize you, O master, to transmit what is in

I have granted you, O master, what is in my narrations

my transmissions from the authentic books,

Of the authentic books, my recitations and readings

بِمَسْمُوعِي ومَقْروئِي عَلَى مَنْ

بِمَسْمُوعِي ومَقْروئِي عَلَى مَنْ

أَنافُوا في العُلُومِ وفي الصَّلاحِ

أَنافُوا في العُلُومِ وفي الصَّلاحِ

including what I heard and what I read before those

Upon those who excelled in knowledge and righteousness

who excelled in the sciences and in righteousness.

Likewise what my mentors, whose mention

كَذلكَ ما أَجازَتْنِي شُيُوخٌ

كَذلكَ ما أَجازَتْنِي شُيُوخٌ

يَطيبُ بِذِكْرِهِمْ بَطْنُ البِطاحِ

يَطيبُ بِذِكْرِهِمْ بَطْنُ البِطاحِ

Likewise, what teachers authorized me to transmit,

Spreads goodness in hearts, granted me

at whose mention the heart of the broad valleys grows sweet;

And likewise my authored works which are with me

كَذاكَ مَؤَلَّفاتِي وهْيَ عِنْدي

كَذاكَ مَؤَلَّفاتِي وهْيَ عِنْدي

صِحاحُ لا تُعَدُّ مِنَ الصِّباحِ

صِحاحُ لا تُعَدُّ مِنَ الصِّباحِ

likewise my writings, which, in my view,

Authentic, not counted among the spurious

are sound, though not counted among the beautiful ones.

Now narrate the records openly

أَلاَ فارْوِ الدَّفاتِرَ غَيْرَ وَانٍ

أَلاَ فارْوِ الدَّفاتِرَ غَيْرَ وَانٍ

جِهاراً في الغُدوِّ وفي الصَّباحِ

جِهاراً في الغُدوِّ وفي الصَّباحِ

Now, transmit the volumes without flagging,

In the morning and evening

aloud in the early morning and in the morning.

For you are the most deserving to narrate

فأَنْتَ أَحَقُّ مَنْ يَرْوي فَيُرْوي

فأَنْتَ أَحَقُّ مَنْ يَرْوي فَيُرْوي

غَليلاً غَيْرَ ذِي زَنْدٍ شَحاحِ

غَليلاً غَيْرَ ذِي زَنْدٍ شَحاحِ

For you are the worthiest of those who transmit and thus quench

A quenching without any miserliness

a burning thirst, not one with a grudging firestick.

I am not conditioning any condition because

وَلَسْتُ بِشارِطٍ شَرْطاً لأَنيّ

وَلَسْتُ بِشارِطٍ شَرْطاً لأَنيّ

رَأَيْتُكَ فَوْقَ شَرْطِي واقْتِراحي

رَأَيْتُكَ فَوْقَ شَرْطِي واقْتِراحي

And I impose no condition, because I

I saw you above my conditions and suggestions

have found you above my stipulation and my proposal.

And I have an authorization you will recognize

وَلِي ثَبَتٌ سَتَعْرِفُهُ ففِيهِ

وَلِي ثَبَتٌ سَتَعْرِفُهُ ففِيهِ

رِواياتٌ أَطَلْتُ بِها مَرَاحي

رِواياتٌ أَطَلْتُ بِها مَرَاحي

And I have a register you will come to know, for in it are

In it are narrations I pursued for long

transmissions with which I prolonged my delight.

Written in Sanaa by men

وقَدْ كَتَبَتْهُ في صَنْعا رجالٌ

وقَدْ كَتَبَتْهُ في صَنْعا رجالٌ

فَطارَ بِلا جَناحٍ أو جُناحِ

فَطارَ بِلا جَناحٍ أو جُناحِ

And men have indeed copied it in Sana'a,

So it flew flawlessly without wings or feathers

so it flew without a wing or blame.

Connect me with prayer, for that is with me

فَصِلْني بالدُّعاءِ فَذَاكَ عِنْدي

فَصِلْني بالدُّعاءِ فَذَاكَ عِنْدي

إذَا أَهْدَيْتَهُ عَيْنُ السَّماحِ

إذَا أَهْدَيْتَهُ عَيْنُ السَّماحِ

So favor me with a prayer, for that, to me,

When you gift it, the eye of generosity

when you offer it, is the very essence of generosity.
