We emerged from prison with our noses held high,
We emerged from prison inhaling the scents
As lions emerge from their forest.
As the lion emerges from its forest

ونأتي المنية من بابها
We pass over the edges of swords,
We pass by the edges of swords
And approach death through its gate.
And we approach death through its door

And reject life if it is defiled
And we refuse life, if it is defiled
By tyrants' oppression and their terror.
By the tyrants' oppression and terrorism

And scorn the great calamities
And we scorn major events
When they confront us with their hardships.
If they obstruct us with their troubles

And we know that fate will come to pass,
And we know that destiny is inevitable
And that events unfold through their causes.
And that matters have their causes

Our nation will know that we
Our nation will know that we
Rode into perils out of love for her.
Embarked on dangers for its affection

So if we triumph—oh, how often
So if we win, oh how long
Hardships yield to those who seek them!

تداس بأقدام أربابها
We disdained to dwell in a nation
We disliked staying in a nation
Trampled beneath the feet of her masters.
That is trampled under the feet of its masters

كراماً, ونخلص من عابها
And set out to escape her shame,
And we marched to escape from its disgrace
With honor, and free ourselves from her blemish.
With dignity, and to rid ourselves of its blemish

And many a serpent coils around us,
And how many snakes coil around us
Then we slip away from between its fangs.
Yet we slip through between their fangs
