O Commander of the Faithful, and best refuge

To whose sanctuary one journeys, and best protector!

If I set my course toward you, it is as though

I had sought the Corner of the Sacred House.

And it seemed to me that, as I stood

Before him, I was between Zamzam and the Station.

O my master, I remember you when I sit,

And O my master, I remember you when I stand.

    كذلك أنت أُنسي في منامي

    And when I wake, you are my thoughts' companion by night;

Likewise, you are my solace in my sleep.

And if love for you has settled in my heart,

It has nestled in my flesh and in my bones.

For were it not for you, my prayer would not be accepted,

And were it not for you, my fasting would not be accepted.

May I be given drink from your cup on the day I am gathered for judgment,

And may my burning thirst be quenched when I drink it.

And may I enjoy the finest life in the Gardens,

By virtue of devotion to you and the mighty blessings.

May God's blessing never pass you by,

And may the salutation of peace follow it.
