كأنّيas though I were وقدand already فاضَتoverflowed سُيولُtorrents مدامعىmy tears
كأنّي وقد فاضَت سُيولُ مدامعى
فشَبَّتand so kindled حريقاًa blaze فىin الحشَاthe entrails والتَّرائبِand the breastbones
فشَبَّت حريقاً فى الحشَا والتَّرائبِ
It is as though I, the torrents of my tears having overflowed
It is as if I, when the floods of my tears overflowed,
and kindled a blaze in my entrails and breastbones,
Igniting a burning fire within my vitals and ribs,
ذُبالَةُa wick قِنديلٍof a lamp تَعُومُfloats بمائهاin its water
ذُبالَةُ قِنديلٍ تَعُومُ بمائها
وتُشعَلُand is kindled فيهاin it النَّارُthe fire منfrom كلِّevery جانبِside
وتُشعَلُ فيها النَّارُ من كلِّ جانبِ
were a lamp's wick floating in its water,
Am the wick of a lamp swimming in its own oil,
with fire kindled in it from every side.
While fire is set ablaze in it from every side.
