the dusky spears having become its lair.

You would think his swords, whenever he unsheathes them,

streams, and the spears their boughs.

And if at daybreak they turn to gallop,

they raise dark clouds of swirling dust within it.

As though the sun, when they stir up dust,

dares not appear for fear of his might.

And the full moons of the horizon were eclipsed only

in sorrow, when they beheld his brow.

for fear he would shatter them outright.

he has crushed shoulders and backs with them.

I marvel at them: in his hands they clasp

a flowing sea, yet are called thirsty.

droplets from the armor of mail-clad men.

when they have drunk the blood of unbelievers?

His battles against his foes rival

his benefactions to supplicants seeking gifts.

And abasement by which he made eyes weep,

and bounty by which he gladdened eyes.
