فَما بالُ الوُشاةِ لَقَد لَحوني

عَلى تَنكيرِ مَحبوبي وَلامُوا

عَلى تَنكيرِ مَحبوبي وَلامُوا

What ails the slanderers? They have indeed reproached me

So why do the fault finders blame me

for leaving my beloved indefinite, and they blamed me.

For denying my beloved and criticize him

وَعَرَّفَهُ القوامُ وَعارِضاهُ

وَعَرَّفَهُ القوامُ وَعارِضاهُ

أَما يَكفيهِمُ أَلِفٌ وَلامُ

أَما يَكفيهِمُ أَلِفٌ وَلامُ

Yet his stature and his two sideburns have made him definite—

When he is defined by his stance and demonstrated by his opposition

are an alif and a lam not enough for them?

Isn't one alif and lam enough for them
