لَيسَتِ الدّنيا غَيرَ دارِ فَناءٍ

لَيسَتِ الدّنيا غَيرَ دارِ فَناءٍ

لَيسَ فيها لِحادِثٍ مِن قَرارِ

لَيسَ فيها لِحادِثٍ مِن قَرارِ

This world is nothing but an abode of passing away.

This world is but an abode of demise

No created being has any permanence in it.

In it there's no permanence for occurrences

قَد رُزِئنا فيها بِشَمسِ معالٍ

قَد رُزِئنا فيها بِشَمسِ معالٍ

لَبِسَت لِلزّوالِ ثَوبَ اِستِتارِ

لَبِسَت لِلزّوالِ ثَوبَ اِستِتارِ

In it we have indeed been bereaved of a sun of lofty virtues,

We were given in it a disappearing sun

That donned, as it set, a robe of concealment:

It wore for evanescence a dress of concealment

الوَزيرِ الفخيمِ خَيرِ مَليكٍ

الوَزيرِ الفخيمِ خَيرِ مَليكٍ

مَن تَسَمَّى بِأَحمَد الجَزَّارِ

مَن تَسَمَّى بِأَحمَد الجَزَّارِ

The august vizier, the best of sovereigns,

The magnificent minister, the best of kings

He who was named Ahmad al-Jazzar.

Is named Ahmad the Butcher

لَيثُ غابٍ لِلدّينِ خَيرُ نَصيرٍ

لَيثُ غابٍ لِلدّينِ خَيرُ نَصيرٍ

خَيرُ غازٍ مجاهد الكفّارِ

خَيرُ غازٍ مجاهد الكفّارِ

A lion of the forest, the faith’s finest champion,

A vanished lion for the religion, the best supporter

The finest warrior, a fighter against the unbelievers,

The best invader, warrior against the infidels

مَن لَهُ في الجهادِ صيتٌ حَميدٌ

مَن لَهُ في الجهادِ صيتٌ حَميدٌ

مِثلُ شَمسِ النّهارِ غِبَّ اِشتِهارِ

مِثلُ شَمسِ النّهارِ غِبَّ اِشتِهارِ

Whose renown in holy struggle was praiseworthy,

Whoever has in jihad a praiseworthy renown

Like the sun of day, once his fame had spread.

Like the sun of daytime, absent is his fame

قَد دَعاهُ رضوانُ نحوَ جِنانٍ

قَد دَعاهُ رضوانُ نحوَ جِنانٍ

فَتَولَّى لِرَحمَةِ الغفّارِ

فَتَولَّى لِرَحمَةِ الغفّارِ

Ridwan has called him toward the gardens of Paradise,

Paradise has called him near gardens

So he departed for the mercy of the All-Forgiving.

So he inclined toward the Most Forgiving's mercy

وَحَباهُ الإِلهُ مِنهُ اِقتِراباً

وَحَباهُ الإِلهُ مِنهُ اِقتِراباً

وَجِواراً بِالمُصطَفى المُختارِ

وَجِواراً بِالمُصطَفى المُختارِ

And God granted him nearness to Himself,

And God has granted him closeness

And a place beside al-Mustafa, the Chosen One,

And companionship with the Chosen One

وَقُصوراً مِنَ الجِنانِ فَأرِّخ

وَقُصوراً مِنَ الجِنانِ فَأرِّخ

حازَ فيها وَنالَ خَيرَ جِوارِ

حازَ فيها وَنالَ خَيرَ جِوارِ

And palaces of Paradise—so record the date:

And palaces of paradise, so equip

There he gained and attained the finest companionship.

He has attained them and gained the best neighborhood
