ذا السّلسبيلُ بِناؤُهُ
فيin حُسنِهِits beauty قَدindeed بالَغواthey went to great lengths
في حُسنِهِ قَد بالَغوا
This Salsabil fountain—its construction
Its aqueduct built with utmost perfection
they have made exceedingly beautiful.
By Solomon once with gems inlaid
وَلَهُand for it سُلَيمانُSolomon الزّماthe age (continued)
وَلَهُ سُلَيمانُ الزّما
نِcompletion of 'the age' مِنَfrom الجَواهِرthe precious stones صائِغُa jeweler
نِ مِنَ الجَواهِر صائِغُ
And Solomon of the age is its
Its waters everfresh slake thirsty lips
jeweler, working with precious stones.
Sweet, clear, and clean, a pure, delicious drink
وَزُلالُهand its clear water يَرويquenches الظّماthirst
وَزُلالُه يَروي الظّما
بِالشّربِby drinking مِنهُfrom it بالغِواgo to the utmost
بِالشّربِ مِنهُ بالغِوا
And its clear water quenches thirst;
drink deeply from it.
عَذبٌsweet فُراتٌfresh and sweet طَيِّبٌwholesome
عَذبٌ فُراتٌ طَيِّبٌ
أرِّخrecord the date نَقِيٌّpure سائِغُpleasant to drink
أرِّخ نَقِيٌّ سائِغُ
Sweet, fresh, and wholesome;
record its date: 'Pure and pleasant to drink.'
