    The sun of splendor and beauty has set

    Beneath the cheek-down of the slender-waisted, bright-toothed beloved.

    And from his cheek-down it has shone forth,

    As though, beyond doubt, it had never set.

    وَعَن هَواهُ لَستُ بِالتّائِبِ

    And there is no repenting of my love for him;

    And I am not one to repent of loving him.

    Can repentance avail those in love

    When the sun has already risen in the west?
