مُذ ذُقتُ صَهباءَ الهوَى

بِالوَجدِ فيهِ دامَ سُكري

Since I tasted love's tawny wine,

Since I tasted the wine of love

Through longing, my intoxication in it has endured.

With passion in it, my intoxication remained

وَوَجَدتُ قَلبي في الهَوى

وَوَجَدتُ قَلبي في الهَوى

كَحَمامَةٍ في كَفِّ صَقرِ

كَحَمامَةٍ في كَفِّ صَقرِ

And I found my heart in love

And I found my heart in love

Like a dove in a falcon's grasp.

Like a dove in the grip of a falcon
