أَبشِرْ محمّدُ وَالبشرى لَمِنْ مِنَحٍ

أَبشِرْ محمّدُ وَالبشرى لَمِنْ مِنَحٍ

يا دُرَّ مَجدٍ لَهُ العَلياءُ كالصَّدفِ

يا دُرَّ مَجدٍ لَهُ العَلياءُ كالصَّدفِ

Rejoice, Muhammad; glad tidings are indeed among the gifts.

Rejoice, O Muhammad, and glad tidings to the one who bestows favors,

O pearl of glory, for whom eminence is like a shell.

O pearl of glory, the highest belong to him like shells,

وافاكَ بِالمَقصودِ مُعتَذراً

وافاكَ بِالمَقصودِ مُعتَذراً

في صِدْقِ توليةٍ من سالفِ السّرفِ

في صِدْقِ توليةٍ من سالفِ السّرفِ

It has come to you bearing what you sought, apologizing

And I came to you having achieved the goal, apologizing

In a sincere turning away from past excess.

With the sincerity of succession from an honorable predecessor,

وَبلبل البشرِ وَالإقبالِ في فنَنٍ

وَبلبل البشرِ وَالإقبالِ في فنَنٍ

مِنَ السّرورِ تَغنّى غيرَ معتسِفِ

مِنَ السّرورِ تَغنّى غيرَ معتسِفِ

And the nightingale of gladness and good fortune, on a bough

And the nightingale of good news and prosperity in various arts

Of joy, sang without strain.

From joy it sings unlike one who hides,

وَلاحَ فَجرُ الهَنا يَجلو دُجى كَدرٍ

وَلاحَ فَجرُ الهَنا يَجلو دُجى كَدرٍ

مِن مَشرِقِ الصَّفوِ يَبدو خَيرَ منكشِفِ

مِن مَشرِقِ الصَّفوِ يَبدو خَيرَ منكشِفِ

And the dawn of happiness shone, dispelling the darkness of distress,

And the dawn of our happiness shone, dispelling the gloom of distress,

From serenity's eastern horizon, appearing as the finest thing unveiled.

From the horizon of purity it appears, better than ever unveiled,

وَطالَما كُنتَ تَرجو وارِثاً ذَكراً

وَطالَما كُنتَ تَرجو وارِثاً ذَكراً

حَتّى مِنَ اليأسِ قَد نادَيتَ يا أسَفي

حَتّى مِنَ اليأسِ قَد نادَيتَ يا أسَفي

And long had you hoped for a male heir,

And long have you hoped for a male heir,

Until, out of despair, you cried, 'Alas for me!'

Until from despair you called "Oh my regrets!",

أَبشِرْ أَخا المَجدِ في شبلٍ حُبيتَ بِهِ

أَبشِرْ أَخا المَجدِ في شبلٍ حُبيتَ بِهِ

وَإِنّه تُحفَةٌ مِن أَعظَمِ التّحفِ

وَإِنّه تُحفَةٌ مِن أَعظَمِ التّحفِ

Rejoice, brother of glory, in the lion cub bestowed upon you;

Rejoice, O brother of glory, in a cub you have loved,

And he is indeed a gift among the greatest gifts.

He is a gift from the Greatest of Givers,

قد جاء والسعدُ نورٌ فوق جبهتِه

قد جاء والسعدُ نورٌ فوق جبهتِه

كغرَّةِ البدرِ يبدو غيرَ منكسِفِ

كغرَّةِ البدرِ يبدو غيرَ منكسِفِ

He has come, with good fortune a light above his brow,

He has come and good fortune, a light above his forehead,

Like the full moon's bright face, appearing uneclipsed.

Like the crescent of the moon appearing unobscured,

ونال مثلَك لما أرّخوه حِجىً

ونال مثلَك لما أرّخوه حِجىً

وحازَ مجداً كساه حلّةَ الشرفِ

وحازَ مجداً كساه حلّةَ الشرفِ

And, like you, he gained wisdom when they recorded his date,

And he attained the like of you when they chronicled him as protection,

And attained glory that clothed him in the robe of honor.

And won glory that clothed him in the garb of honor,

وَاللَّه يَحبوه عُمراً لا اِنتهاءَ له

وَاللَّه يَحبوه عُمراً لا اِنتهاءَ له

وَدامَ مِن حِفظِ ربِّ العرشِ في كنَفِ

وَدامَ مِن حِفظِ ربِّ العرشِ في كنَفِ

And may God grant him a life that has no end,

And God loves him with a life without end,

And may he ever remain sheltered in the care of the Lord of the Throne.

And may he remain in the care of the Lord of the Throne forevermore.
