O you who never untie estrangement’s knots once they are tied,

Reunion is a deferred debt, and its due date has arrived.

O you whose saliva has sweetened the seas with its drops,

Have mercy on your tormented lover, whose bones your desertion has ground down,

And torn his resolve apart and sapped his strength.
