أَياO شَمسَsun الوِزارَةِof the vizierate بدرَfull moon عِزٍّof glory
أَيا شَمسَ الوِزارَةِ بدرَ عِزٍّ
عَلىabove الوُزراءِthe viziers طرّاًall together أَجمعيناwithout exception
عَلى الوُزراءِ طرّاً أَجمعينا
O sun of the vizierate, full moon of glory
O sun of ministry, full moon of glory
above the viziers, each and all!
Upon all ministers generously bestow your light
حَباكَfavored you اللَّهGod رَبّيmy Lord كلّevery وَقتٍmoment
حَباكَ اللَّه رَبّي كلّ وَقتٍ
بِتَوفيقٍwith success وَكانَand may He be لَكَfor you المُعيناthe helper
بِتَوفيقٍ وَكانَ لَكَ المُعينا
May God, my Lord, favor you at every moment
May Allah, my Lord, grant you success always
with success, and be your helper.
With triumph, for He has been your supporter
وَدامَand may He continue لَكَfor you العزيزُthe Almighty يُعِزُّgranting honor دوماًalways
وَدامَ لَكَ العزيزُ يُعِزُّ دوماً
وَدامَand may He continue لِمَنtoward whoever يُعاديكَopposes you المُهيناthe humbler
وَدامَ لِمَن يُعاديكَ المُهينا
And may the Almighty ever continue to honor you,
May the Almighty forever empower you
and ever continue to humble whoever opposes you.
And humiliate those who oppose you evermore
جَزاكَmay He reward you اللَّهُGod ربّيmy Lord كُلَّevery خَيرٍgood
جَزاكَ اللَّهُ ربّي كُلَّ خَيرٍ
عَنِon behalf of الإِسلامِIslam ثمَّthen المُسلِميناthe Muslims
عَنِ الإِسلامِ ثمَّ المُسلِمينا
May God, my Lord, reward you with every good
May Allah reward you with all good
on behalf of Islam, and then the Muslims.
For the sake of Islam and all Muslims
فَقَدfor indeed أَعزَزتَyou exalted هَذاthis الدينَfaith قَدراًin standing
فَقَد أَعزَزتَ هَذا الدينَ قَدراً
وَقَدand indeed أَعلَيتyou raised قَدرَthe standing المُؤمنيناof the believers
وَقَد أَعلَيت قَدرَ المُؤمنينا
For you have exalted the standing of this faith,
You have honored this religion immensely
and raised the standing of the believers.
And elevated the worth of the faithful
وَقَدand indeed شَيّدتyou built up منهُof it كلّevery رُكنٍpillar
وَقَد شَيّدت منهُ كلّ رُكنٍ
فَأَضحىso it became رُكنهُits pillar الرُّكنthe pillar المَتيناsteadfast
فَأَضحى رُكنهُ الرُّكن المَتينا
And you have built up every pillar of it,
You have fortified its every pillar
so its pillar has become a steadfast pillar.
Until it became an impregnable bastion
وَقَدand indeed أيَّدتَهyou supported it أُيِّدتَmay you be supported دوماًalways
وَقَد أيَّدتَه أُيِّدتَ دوماً
وَدامَand may He remain اللَّهGod حافظكَyour guardian الأَميناthe faithful one
وَدامَ اللَّه حافظكَ الأَمينا
And you have upheld it—may you always be upheld—
As you have supported it, may you be supported
and may God ever be your faithful guardian.
May God, your Trustworthy Protector, be with you always
حَميتَyou defended حِماهُits sanctuary بِالسُّمرwith brown spears العَواليtall
حَميتَ حِماهُ بِالسُّمر العَوالي
وَقُضبٍand swords صادِقاتٍtrusty لَنwill not تَميناprove false
وَقُضبٍ صادِقاتٍ لَن تَمينا
You defended its sanctuary with tall, brown spears
You have protected it with lofty determination
and trusty swords that will never fail,
And straight spears that will never bend
وَبِالرّأيِand with judgment السّديدِsound فيat كلِّevery حينmoment
وَبِالرّأيِ السّديدِ في كلِّ حين
وَماand not عَنهُfrom it الصّوابُrightness يَزولُdeparts حيناfor a moment
وَما عَنهُ الصّوابُ يَزولُ حينا
and with sound judgment at every moment,
With wise counsel in every moment
and rightness never departs from it for a moment.
For truth never fails nor falters a moment
وَقَدand indeed حَرّكتyou stirred عَزماًa resolve هاشميّاًHashimite
وَقَد حَرّكت عَزماً هاشميّاً
فَأَوجَبso it imposed لِلضّراغيمِupon the lions السُّكوناstillness
فَأَوجَب لِلضّراغيمِ السُّكونا
And you have stirred a Hashimite resolve,
You have stirred glorious Hashimi resolve
so it forced the lions into stillness.
Silencing clamors and bringing peace
وَقَدand indeed خَلّصتyou liberated جزِّيناًJezzine وَبرجاand Barja
وَقَد خَلّصت جزِّيناً وَبرجا
وَإِتباعاًand dependencies لَهاbelonging to them حقّاًtruly يَقيناcertainly
وَإِتباعاً لَها حقّاً يَقينا
And you have liberated Jezzine and Barja,
You have liberated Jazirat and Burj
and their dependencies, truly and certainly.
Rightly restoring them, this we know as truth
وَرُمتَand you sought أَخاO brother المَراحِمِof mercies وَالمَعاليand noble deeds
وَرُمتَ أَخا المَراحِمِ وَالمَعالي
لِعَدلٍfor justice أَنto تَكونَyou become لَهاfor them الضّميناthe guarantor
لِعَدلٍ أَن تَكونَ لَها الضّمينا
And you sought, O brother of mercy and noble deeds,
You have cast out the merciful brother
to become their guarantor of justice.
So that justice may be their sanctuary
ومَنْand those who كانَتhad been بِأَيديهِمin their hands أَجابواanswered
ومَنْ كانَت بِأَيديهِم أَجابوا
وَقالواand they said قَدindeed أَتَيناwe have come طائِعيناobediently
وَقالوا قَد أَتَينا طائِعينا
And those who had held them answered,
Those who wield power have obeyed
and said, “We have come obediently.”
Saying: we come willingly, compliant
وَكلٌّand everyone تَحتَunder أَمرِكَyour command ذوhaving وقوفٍreadiness
وَكلٌّ تَحتَ أَمرِكَ ذو وقوفٍ
يُريدونَthey desire الرّضاءَapproval وَيَطلُبوناand they seek
يُريدونَ الرّضاءَ وَيَطلُبونا
And all stand ready under your command,
All are paused, awaiting your command
desiring approval and seeking it.
Seeking your pleasure, this they ask
فَلاso may not زَالَتcease أَوامِرُكyour commands العَواليlofty
فَلا زَالَت أَوامِرُك العَوالي
تُطاعbe obeyed مِنَby الوَرىhumankind وَالعالَميناand all peoples
تُطاع مِنَ الوَرى وَالعالَمينا
So may your lofty commands never cease
Your lofty orders continue to be obeyed
to be obeyed by humankind and all peoples,
By all the people and lands
وَتَنفذُand take effect طِبقin accordance with ماwhat تَختارُyou choose فيهِمamong them
وَتَنفذُ طِبق ما تَختارُ فيهِم
وَهُمand they لَيسواare not لَهاto them بِمُخالِفيناin opposition
وَهُم لَيسوا لَها بِمُخالِفينا
and to be carried out among them just as you choose,
Executed just as you decide for them
while they do not defy them.
For none dare oppose or contradict
تَهنَّأrejoice أَيّهاO الدّستورvizier وَاِفخَرand take pride
تَهنَّأ أَيّها الدّستور وَاِفخَر
بِهَذاin this الفَتحِconquest بَينَamong الحاكِميناthe rulers
بِهَذا الفَتحِ بَينَ الحاكِمينا
Rejoice, O vizier, and take pride
Congratulations, oh constitution, glory in
in this conquest among the rulers.
This victory among rulers
فَقَدfor indeed قُلِّدتَyou were girded منby ربّيmy Lord بِسَيفٍwith a sword
فَقَد قُلِّدتَ من ربّي بِسَيفٍ
لِنَصرِكَto aid you لَنwill not يُفلَّbe blunted وَلَنand will not يميناprove false
لِنَصرِكَ لَن يُفلَّ وَلَن يمينا
For you have been girded by my Lord with a sword
For my Lord has granted you a sword
to aid you; it will never be blunted or fail.
Your triumph will never weaken or bend
وَإِذand when قُلِّدتَهyou were girded with it أرّختI recorded the date مِنهُfrom it
وَإِذ قُلِّدتَه أرّخت مِنهُ
حَباكَHe granted you النّصرvictory وَالفَتحand conquest المُبيناmanifest
حَباكَ النّصر وَالفَتح المُبينا
And when you were girded with it, I recorded its date thus:
When granted it, you have thereby heralded
“He has granted you victory and manifest conquest.”
Conquest and clear victory
وَدُمand remain بِالعِزِّin honor وَالتّأييدِand support دَوماًalways
وَدُم بِالعِزِّ وَالتّأييدِ دَوماً
بِحِفظِunder the protection of اللَّهِGod مَحفوظاًguarded مَصوناsafeguarded
بِحِفظِ اللَّهِ مَحفوظاً مَصونا
And remain always in honor and support,
Live forever empowered and supported
guarded and safeguarded under God's protection,
By God's protection, guarded and protected
مَدىthroughout الأَيّامِthe days ماas long as هَبَّتblows نَسيمa breeze
مَدى الأَيّامِ ما هَبَّت نَسيم
فَصافَحتthen shook hands with الأَزاهِرthe blossoms والغُصوناand the boughs
فَصافَحت الأَزاهِر والغُصونا
throughout the days, so long as a breeze blows
As long as the days continue and the breezes blow
and then shakes hands with the blossoms and the boughs.
