My soul for a full-figured woman’s earring of emerald,
With a spirit like an emerald earring,
Green, of whose beauty the bird of praise has sung.
Green in its beauty, the birds of praise chirped loudly.

It has taken its place beside her face, keeping it company;
It stood beside her cheek, matching it,
And beneath it is her neck, and light shines clear from it.
With her neck below it, and light shone from it, radiant.

And one side of it mirrors the rose of her cheek,
And a side of it told of the rose and garden,
So it reddened from that, and joy delighted the onlookers.
So it turned red from it, and delighted the onlookers with joy.

So look: beside the rising sun you will see
So look, you see next to the rising sun,
A rainbow that has appeared above the pillar of dawn.
The rainbow appeared above the pillar of dawn.
