بِروحيwith my soul as ransom عَينُهُhis eye الوَطفاءُlong-lashed تَرنوgazes
بِروحي عَينُهُ الوَطفاءُ تَرنو
عَلىupon وَجَناتِهِhis cheeks أَضحَتhas come to تطلُّshed dew
عَلى وَجَناتِهِ أَضحَت تطلُّ
My soul be ransom for his long-lashed eye as it gazes;
With my soul his gentle eyes yearn
upon his cheeks it has come to shed dew.
On his cheeks dawn has arrived
فَشِمْso behold ماءَthe water الحَياءِof bashfulness بِوَجنَتَيهِon his two cheeks
فَشِمْ ماءَ الحَياءِ بِوَجنَتَيهِ
تَرىyou will see ماءًwater عَلَيهِover it يرفُّflutters ظلُّa shadow
تَرى ماءً عَلَيهِ يرفُّ ظلُّ
So behold the water of bashfulness on his two cheeks:
So smell the water of shyness on his cheeks
you will see water over which a shadow flutters.
You will see, on it, shadows flutter
