بَداappeared حَبيبيmy beloved وَشَمسُand the sun الأُفقِof the horizon زاهيةٌradiant
بَدا حَبيبي وَشَمسُ الأُفقِ زاهيةٌ
وَمُذْand when رَأَتهُshe saw him اِعتَراهاseized her الخوفُfear وَالدَّهَشُand astonishment
وَمُذْ رَأَتهُ اِعتَراها الخوفُ وَالدَّهَشُ
My beloved appeared while the sun on the horizon was radiant;
My beloved appeared, and the bright sun of the horizon
and when she saw him, fear and astonishment seized her.
When it saw him, it was seized by fear and surprise
لَولاwere it not for مَخافَتُهاher fear منهby him الكُسوفَeclipse لَماwould not
لَولا مَخافَتُها منه الكُسوفَ لَما
أَصابَهاseized her وَهيَwhile she تزهوshone radiantly إِذwhen بَداhe appeared الرعَشُtrembling
أَصابَها وَهيَ تزهو إِذ بَدا الرعَشُ
Had she not feared being eclipsed by him, she would not
Had it not feared him causing an eclipse, it would not
have been seized by trembling, radiant as she was, when he appeared.
Have trembled while in its glory when he appeared
