فيin أَسرِهِhis captivity قَدindeed وَقَعناwe fell
في أَسرِهِ قَد وَقَعنا
وَلَيسَand there is no مِنهُfrom it مَناصُescape
وَلَيسَ مِنهُ مَناصُ
Into his captivity we have fallen,
We have fallen into his captivity,
and from him there is no escape.
And there is no escape from it.
ماnot كانَwas إِلّاbut هُموماًsorrows
ما كانَ إِلّا هُموماً
وَلَيسَand there is no مِنهاfrom them خَلاصُrelease
وَلَيسَ مِنها خَلاصُ
It was nothing but sorrows,
It was nothing but sorrows,
and from them there is no deliverance.
And there is no release from them.
