تَرَكتُ أَهلَ زَماني دونَ تَجربَةٍ
I left the people of my time without putting them to the test.
I left the people of my time without trying,
And I was hesitant to befriend them, no doubt.
وَكُنتand I was مِنfrom ودّهمtheir affection لاno شَكّdoubt مُنقَبِضاwithdrawn
وَكُنت مِن ودّهم لا شَكّ مُنقَبِضا
And I was, without doubt, averse to their affection.
But after gaining experience, I saw
That I had to leave them, necessarily and obligatorily.
وَقَدand indeed رَأيتI realized ولَكِنbut بَعدَafter تَجرِبَةٍa test
وَقَد رَأيت ولَكِن بَعدَ تَجرِبَةٍ
And I realized, but only after putting them to the test,
عَليّincumbent upon me تَركيmy leaving لَهمof them حَتماًnecessarily وَمُفتَرضاand obligatory
عَليّ تَركي لَهم حَتماً وَمُفتَرضا
that leaving them was incumbent upon me, necessary and obligatory.
