Do you expect permanence in the abode of humiliation?

So pause: everyone upon it will pass away.

Indeed, this tomb has embraced a noble man,

who, in this age, was the very eye of the age:

Ahmad al-Hafiz, praiseworthy in his traits,

good in character, possessed of beautiful qualities.

The Lord of the gardens of Paradise has called him to them,

so he answered the call without delay.

And He bestowed His favor on him there; and happy is

whoever the Generous One has favored with His good pleasure.

Many a happy soul, with al-Mustafa, the intercessor,

has settled—record the date—like Hafiz in the gardens of Paradise.
