تَأمَّلْ بِذا الحَوضِ حُسناً وَماءً

تَأمَّلْ بِذا الحَوضِ حُسناً وَماءً

تَراهُ رَفيعاً بَديعَ الصّفاتِ

تَراهُ رَفيعاً بَديعَ الصّفاتِ

Contemplate the beauty and water in this basin;

Behold this basin, beautiful and watered,

You will see it lofty, wondrous in its qualities.

You see it lofty, unique in attributes.

بَناهُ سُلَيمانُ بَدرُ المَعالي

بَناهُ سُلَيمانُ بَدرُ المَعالي

وَشَمسُ الوِزارَةِ رَبُّ الصِّلاتِ

وَشَمسُ الوِزارَةِ رَبُّ الصِّلاتِ

Sulayman built it, the full moon of eminence,

Solomon built it, the full moon of glories,

And the sun of the vizierate, the lord of gifts.

And the sun of ministry, Lord of prayers.

فَفيهِ فُراتٌ وَعَذبٌ مَعينٌ

فَفيهِ فُراتٌ وَعَذبٌ مَعينٌ

حَياةُ النّفوسِ وَماءُ الحياةِ

حَياةُ النّفوسِ وَماءُ الحياةِ

For within it is sweet, fresh, flowing water,

In it there is Euphrates, a fresh spring,

The life of souls and the water of life.

The life of souls and the water of life.

شِفاءٌ لِقَلبٍ فَأرِّخ وَلُبٍّ

شِفاءٌ لِقَلبٍ فَأرِّخ وَلُبٍّ

وَإِنَّ الشّفاءَ بماءٍ فُراتِ

وَإِنَّ الشّفاءَ بماءٍ فُراتِ

Healing for heart and mind—so record the date:

A cure for a heart, so tell its tale,

And indeed, healing comes through sweet water.

And healing is indeed in Euphrates' water.
