وَلَيلand a night بِهِin it زارَhe visited وَالكونُand the universe ضاءshone
وَلَيل بِهِ زارَ وَالكونُ ضاء
بِأَنوارِهِwith his lights وَهيَwhile they were ساطِعةُradiant
بِأَنوارِهِ وَهيَ ساطِعةُ
And one night he visited, and the universe shone
A night with him has visited, and the universe shone
With his lights, shining brightly.
With its lights, radiant

وَأَنوارُهُand its lights مِنهُfrom it لامِعةُgleaming

Its dawn appeared, breaking forth,
Its dawn has emerged, split open
And its lights gleamed from it.
And its lights from it, shining
فَلِلصّبحِso to the dawn قلتُI said أَلاdo you not تَستَحيfeel ashamed
فَلِلصّبحِ قلتُ أَلا تَستَحي
وَتَطلعُand you rise وَالشّمسُwhile the sun طالعةُrisen
وَتَطلعُ وَالشّمسُ طالعةُ
So I said to dawn, “Are you not ashamed
So to the dawn I said, do you not feel shy
To rise while the sun is already up?”
To rise while the sun is rising
