وَشَقيقَةٍand an anemone فيin كَفِّthe palm of أَهيَفَa slender youth قُلِّبَتwas turned
وَشَقيقَةٍ في كَفِّ أَهيَفَ قُلِّبَت
فَغدَاso he became المُتيَّمُthe lovesick one خالِياًbereft عنof لُبّهِhis reason
فَغدَا المُتيَّمُ خالِياً عن لُبّهِ
And an anemone was turned in a slender youth’s palm;
so the lovesick one became bereft of his reason.
فَكأَنّهاso, as though it were خَدُّthe cheek of الحَبيبِthe beloved وَصبهand his lover
فَكأَنّها خَدُّ الحَبيبِ وَصبه
فَرِحاًjoyfully يُنقِّطُهاhe dots it بِحبةِwith the kernel of قَلبِهِhis heart
فَرِحاً يُنقِّطُها بِحبةِ قَلبِهِ
It seemed the beloved’s cheek, with his lover
joyfully dotting it with the kernel of his heart.
