And a young gazelle visited me while the night lay in deep darkness.
The nightly shadows wept for me when light
Then my two eyes wavered at his light and were swept away.
Fled from my eyes and left me in dark plight.
وقَدْand indeed طَفىquenched ريقُهُhis saliva نارَthe fire الحَشاthe inner heart وجَنىand gathered
مِنْfrom خدِّهhis cheek نَظَريmy gaze للوَرْدِfor the roses وَاِقْتَطفاand plucked
And his saliva had quenched the fire in my heart, and my gaze gathered
My tears, fire-hot, sped down my cheek, and he
Roses from his cheek and plucked them.
Plucked roses that on my cheek bloomed bright.
