وقائلةٍand a woman saying ماwhat بَالُthe matter with دمعِكyour tears أحمَرُred
وقائلةٍ ما بَالُ دمعِك أحمَرُ
ومَنْand who ذاthis الرَّشاthe young gazelle تُقلىyou are scorched بِنارِby the fire of جَفَائِهِhis rejection
ومَنْ ذا الرَّشا تُقلى بِنارِ جَفَائِهِ
And a woman asked, "Why are your tears red?
And she asks, "Why are your tears crimson red?
And who is this young gazelle whose fire of rejection scorches you?"
Who is it whose cruelty burns you so?"
فَقُلْتُso I said لَهاto her الهجْرَانُseparation للْعَيْنِto the eye جَارِحٌwounding
فَقُلْتُ لَها الهجْرَانُ للْعَيْنِ جَارِحٌ
ومِنْand of عادَةِthe habit of المَجْروحِthe wounded one سَيْلُthe flowing of دِمائِهِhis blood
ومِنْ عادَةِ المَجْروحِ سَيْلُ دِمائِهِ
So I told her, "Separation wounds the eye,
I said to her, "Separation wounds the eyes,
And it is the wounded one's nature to bleed."
And it is the wounded's nature for their blood to flow."
