بِكُحلٍ غَدا كَالسّحرِ تَحويهِ بابلُ
And a languid-lidded, thick-lashed woman has lined her eyes
With kohl that became like the magic Babylon holds.

And her kohl is not for adornment; rather, it is
For poisoning the eyelid’s arrows when she duels.

She intended to kill her lover with the arrows’ poison,
For poisoned arrows are, without doubt, deadly.
