And a graceful youth, free of sideburns and cheek-beard;
With cheeks smooth of down or blemish
And his cheek, a mirror, puts gold to shame.
And the mirror of her face showing freshness,
فَمَنso whoever قَدhad رَآهاseen it شامَbeheld أَهدابَthe eyelashes عَينِهِof his eye
قَدِhad اِنطَبَعتbeen reflected فيهاin it فَظَنَّso he supposed عذاراsideburns
So whoever saw it beheld his own eyelashes
Whoever looks on her closes his eyelids’ curtains
Reflected in it, and mistook them for sideburns.
Thinking that in the mirror blemishes are formed.
