وَرَوض بِهِ الأَزهارُ بَينَ منظّم

وَرَوض بِهِ الأَزهارُ بَينَ منظّم

وَآخر مَنثور بِهِ صِرت مَسرورا

وَآخر مَنثور بِهِ صِرت مَسرورا

And a garden where some flowers are arranged,

With it the flowers tidy up their beds

And others scattered—in it I found delight.

And lastly scattered here, I’m cheered instead

ففيه أرى المنثور يبدو منظماً

ففيه أرى المنثور يبدو منظماً

وفيه أرى المنظوم لا شك منثورا

وفيه أرى المنظوم لا شك منثورا

For in it I see the scattered appear arranged,

Within it prose seems organized and neat

And in it I see the arranged, without doubt, scattered.

And verse unfettered flows, this can’t be beat
