وَذيand one endowed with مَحاسنcharms فيin لَألاءِthe radiance of وَجنَتِهِhis cheek
وَذي مَحاسن في لَألاءِ وَجنَتِهِ
خالٌa mole بِهِon it شعراتhairs مِثلlike لاماتِlām letters
خالٌ بِهِ شعرات مِثل لاماتِ
And a fair one has, amid the radiance of his cheek,
a mole with hairs like lām letters.
قَلبيmy heart إِلىto خَدِّهhis cheek إِذwhen طارَflew أَحرَقهُit burned it
قَلبي إِلى خَدِّه إِذ طارَ أَحرَقهُ
بِنارِهِwith its fire فَتَبدّىand so appeared خالُهhis mole الذّاتيinherent
بِنارِهِ فَتَبدّى خالُه الذّاتي
When my heart flew to his cheek, the cheek burned it
with its fire, and his natural mole appeared.
بانَتseparated سُوَيداؤُهُits dark core مِنهُfrom it إِذِwhen اِحتَرَقتit burned
بانَت سُوَيداؤُهُ مِنهُ إِذِ اِحتَرَقت
بيwithin me فَتلكَand that فيin خالِهِhis mole صارَتbecame شعيراتِtiny hairs
بي فَتلكَ في خالِهِ صارَت شعيراتِ
Its dark core separated from it when it burned
within me; that became tiny hairs in his mole.
