And a fair one, as though the sun were his cheek,
With beauty like the sun, her cheeks so fair
And the mole upon it bears a little hair.
The mole upon them as if it were a strand of hair

فَأَحرَقتهُ بِنارِ الخدِّ وَالخفرِ
The full moon of heaven, when it saw the cheek, furrowed its center;
The full moon saw her visage, fell in love
So it scorched the moon with the fire of the cheek and bashfulness.
Her cheeks and allure set its heart aflame
فَصارَso it became خَالاًa mole لَهاfor it يَزهوit glories بِرَونَقِهاin its splendor

فَحَيَّرَ العقلَ كَالأَبصارِ وَالفِكَرِ
So it became a mole upon the cheek, glorying in its splendor;
Leaving a mark, now a mole for her to flaunt
Thus it bewildered the mind, as it did the eyes and thoughts.
Perplexing minds and eyes without restrain

Its radiance, when the flame of the fire overtook it,
Its rays now strands, its blaze consumed it whole
Had become hair visible upon that moon.
Singed to become the locks upon her face
