Whenever one misfortune passes, another appears before us.

When one sorrow passes, another is sent,

أراها إلى أهل النهى تجلب الأسى

أراها إلى أهل النهى تجلب الأسى

وليس لها عنهم وان سالموا كف

وليس لها عنهم وان سالموا كف

I see it bringing sorrow to people of reason.

I see it brings woe to the virtuous men,

And it does not hold back from them, even if they make peace.

And never leaves them in peace, though they repent.
