I see pardoning the nobles of Quraysh as a means

to God on the frowning, grievous day.

Nor do I favor killing a young kinsman

whose lineage lies in the clan of Ka'b and Amir,

but rather pardoning him, after he failed to strike a spark,

and one of fortune's stumbling turns made him slip.

And his father, on the day of Siffin, was enraged

against us; so Yuhabir's spears struck him dead.
