And share with your brother the sorrows of love.

In the east wind's bosom wafts of peace.
To the heart of my beloved youth my wish of peace

And pass by those dwellings over which
Pass by the abode where
I wept as the clouds weep.
I wept like clouds weep rain

For many a time the heart was enraptured there,
How long my heart languished there
Between the maiden and the young man.
Between the lass and the lad

And many a lovesick soul has been wept for by another.
Many a lovesick lad cried for his lovesick chums

كذي السقمِ يرحمُ أهلَ السقامْ
And one who longs pities his brothers,
He who yearns laments his brethren
As one who is ill has pity on the sick.

He is the full moon, yet he is unjust,
He is the moon but eclipsed
While that moon dispels the darkness from us.
Which soon shall reveal the dark

A friend said head for her abode
So I said, 'I would see him, even if only in a dream.'
I said I see it though in a dream

Where is that tavern where
Apart from which I deem every wine forbidden?
All other wine tastes bland but its own

Love has indeed forsaken most hearts,
Though love deserted most hearts
Yet it has settled within my ribs.
In my ribs it chose to dwell
