تولى زمانُ بني آدمٍ

تولى زمانُ بني آدمٍ

وهذا الزمانُ زمانُ القرودُ

وهذا الزمانُ زمانُ القرودُ

The age of Adam’s sons has passed.

Time has taken the sons of Adam,

And this age is the age of monkeys.

And this time is the time of apes,

وما الموتُ إلا اصطحابُ الثقيلِ

وما الموتُ إلا اصطحابُ الثقيلِ

ولولاهُ فازَ الورى بالخلودِ

ولولاهُ فازَ الورى بالخلودِ

And death is nothing but keeping company with a bore.

Death is only taking away the burdensome,

And were it not for him, humankind would attain immortality.

If not for it, the world would have won immortality.
