هجرتُ نومي وهو لي هاجرٌ

فكلُّ عمري فيهِ هجرانُ

فكلُّ عمري فيهِ هجرانُ

I forsook my sleep, and it forsakes me;

I abandoned my sleep while he deserted me,

So all my life is spent in estrangement from it.

So my whole life with him is estrangement.

لو سلطوا عينيهِ في عسكرٍ

لو سلطوا عينيهِ في عسكرٍ

لم يبقَ في العسكرِ انسانُ

لم يبقَ في العسكرِ انسانُ

If they unleashed his two eyes upon an army,

If they unleashed his eyes against an army,

Not a soul would remain in the army.

No human would remain in the army.
