  1. نقصَ البخلُ ويومَ أتى

    قيلَ إن البخلَ قد كملا

    Miserliness was incomplete; and on the day he came,

    It was said, “Miserliness has now reached perfection.”

  2. لو رآهُ أهل مروٍ إذن

    ضربوهُ بينهم مثلا

    Had the people of Marw seen him, then

    They would have made him a byword among themselves.
