If you do not feel what we feel,

then who has afflicted your waist with this wasting?

Why do you conceal love, when love

says to me in your eyes, "Here I am"?

And those breaths of yours are telltale,

and between your breasts I see a hiding place.

    وما دليلُ الشمسِ إلا السَّنا

    This face and its hues are enough for me;

and the sun's only proof is its radiance.

Put people's suspicions to rest, and shrink from

letting tongues wag about us one day.

Do you not see the birds at ease

since the day they began proclaiming their love?

And when we concealed our heartache, we hid it

only as branches hide their fruit.

And love in the breast is vapor: if

you suppose it is here, it flows out from here.

Both our hearts filled with love,

and overflowed until they filled our eyes.

And what fault lies with the vessel that

overflows if you yourself have filled it?

    Do not marvel at what love promises;

lovers hold nothing in their hands but wishes.

He has attained his desires through love

who has attained riches through alchemy.
