صِدقُ حَيَوانِيَّتي
عَلى سَرابِ بَلاطِك
The truth of my animal nature
On the mirage of your tiled floor
تنْزلِقُ مَخالِبي .
/
my claws slip.
/
وَأَنتِ لا تَنظُرينَ إلَي
بِلَمعَةِ كَتِفِكِ
And while you were not looking at me,
with the gleam of your shoulder
أَصبتِني .
/
you struck me.
/
عِندما رَضيتِ
بِفُتورٍ
When you agreed
halfheartedly
أَن تَضَعيني في قَفَصِكِ
كانَ هَمِّي
to put me in your cage,
my concern was
أَن أُثبِتَ لَكِ
صِدقَ حَيَوانيَّتي .
to prove to you
the truth of my animal nature.

ولو اِستغرَقَني جَميعَ ما أَعطيتِني
/
And even if it took me all you gave me
مِن ياقوتِ الوَقت
أَرَدتُ أَن أَقومَ
of time's ruby,
I wanted to perform
بطُقوسِ صَلاتي كامِلَةً
أَن أَجثو أَمامَكِ
the rites of my prayer in full,
to kneel before you,
راكِعاً على رُكبَتَي
وأَدُسُّ وَجهي
bowing on my knees,
and bury my face
في صَحنِ
بَطنِكِ .
in the bowl
of your belly.

عِندَها أُسقِطَ
في يَدي .

You squeeze out a drop for me
مِن حَليبِ ثَديكِ الأيسَر
في فِنجانِ
of milk from your left breast
into the cup
قَهوتي .

of my coffee.

مَدَدتِ يدَكِ
لِتُلقِّمينَني الحَلوى بأَصابِعِكِ
You held out your hand
to feed me sweets with your fingers.
خَيبَتي لَم تَفتَح
فَمي .
My disappointment did not open
my mouth.

لَيلٌ أَسودُ

A black night
يلُفُّ بِساعِدَيهِ المُظلِمَين
نَهارَ خَصرِكِ
wraps its dark forearms around
the daylight of your waist—
النَّحيل .

كاَنَ
يَذوبُ
