لِلَّهِto God belongs جَوهَرَةٌa jewel يَروdelights (beginning of يروق)
لِلَّهِ جَوهَرَةٌ يَرو
قُcompletion of يروق: delights العَينَthe eye حُسنُthe beauty of صَفائِهاits clarity
قُ العَينَ حُسنُ صَفائِها
God's is a jewel that delights
the eye with the beauty of its clarity.
أَبصَرتُهاI saw it فَحَمَدتُهاso I praised it
أَبصَرتُها فَحَمَدتُها
مِنfrom قَبلُbefore حينَthe time of جَلائِهاits polishing
مِن قَبلُ حينَ جَلائِها
I saw it and praised it
before the time of its polishing.
فجلوتهاso I polished it لأزيدَهاto enhance it
فجلوتها لأزيدَها
فيin حسنهاits beauty وبهائهاand its splendor
في حسنها وبهائها
So I polished it to enhance it
in its beauty and its splendor.
مدّتit laid out عليَّbefore me عيوبهاits flaws
مدّت عليَّ عيوبها
وعوارَهاand its blemishes بجلائهاthrough its polishing
وعوارَها بجلائها
It revealed its flaws to me
and its blemishes through its polishing.
فَنَدِمتُso I regretted أَنthat لاnot كُنتُI had قَدalready
فَنَدِمتُ أَن لا كُنتُ قَد
تَرَكتُهاleft it بِغَطائِهاwith its covering
تَرَكتُها بِغَطائِها
Then I regretted that I had not
left it beneath its covering,
وَرَضيتُand I was content وَاِستَمتَعتُand I took pleasure مِنfrom
وَرَضيتُ وَاِستَمتَعتُ مِن
هاit (completing منها) زَهرَهاits bloom بِرُوائِهاwith its fair appearance
ها زَهرَها بِرُوائِها
and been content, taking pleasure in
its bloom in its fair appearance.
