أَلاAh! رُبَّmany a أَمرٍmatter قَدindeed تَرِبتُI became impoverished وَحاجَةٍand a need
لَهاfor it بَينَbetween أَحشاءِthe innermost parts الضُلوعِthe ribs عَويلُwailing
Ah, many a matter has left me impoverished, and many a need
Oh, many a case which made me grieve, and want
For which there is wailing deep within my ribs.
Between my ribs complaining cried and moaned!
فَلَمyet did not تَلبَثِtake long الأَيّامُthe days أَنthat عادَturned عُسرُهاits hardship

Yet not many days passed before its hardship turned
But Fate gave not my secret thoughts relief,
To ease and success—and things change.
Till Time had turned distress to comfort grown.
